Going, Going, Gone
Written by Joanna
Backpack packed,
door shut quietly,
stars shining cheerfully,
a long way to go.
Dark alleys looming,
old haunts sighing,
lonely steps echoeing,
then the city left behind.
Trees throwing shadows,
owls screeching hungrily,
roots trip me angrily,
but I’m in safety… for now.
