TreePeople is a nonprofit environmental advocacy group located in Los Angeles. It all began in 1970, when 15-year old Andy Lipkis planted the first trees to help his smog-damaged hometown LA breathe again. He founded TreePeople in 1973, and remains its President today.
Their vision is for LA to have enough tree canopy, healthy soil and clean local water by empowering communities and policymakers. They inspire and support the people of LA to care for their urban forest, local mountains and to adopt sustainable solutions at home. They unite with communities to grow a greener, shadier and more water-secure city at homes, neighborhoods, schools and in the local mountains.
