Elisabeth Schweimler

I’m Elisabeth, and I live near Freiburg, Germany. Besides writing, I also enjoy acting in my school’s English language drama group. I have also been playing the piano for several years and like to sing along with it. I also love musicals, audiobooks, sushi and Jane Austen.

What brought you to writing?

I have always had a lot of ideas for stories, and I have been writing them down ever since elementary school.

How did you come to take part in Clara’s Prize?

My sister told me about the award because she knew that I liked to write, and I thought it was a good idea. I have never submitted any of my stories to a competition, so it was an exciting experience for me.

How did you like your time at Fraggina? Did you find inspiration there?

The time at Fraggina was extremely inspiring for me. Before my stay I hadn’t written any stories in some time, because one of my projects had become a little too unwieldy for me. But while I was in Tuscany, I had a long conversation with Cornelia about it and I suddenly found new inspiration. Luckily summer holidays started very soon after I got back from Fraggina so I had some time to start writing again.

What did you take home with you?

Besides new inspiration, I also took home the feeling that there are many incredibly talented people out there who enjoy creative pursuits just as much as I do. I don’t know a lot of people, who write as a hobby, so it’s really great that I know now that there is a wonderful place in Tuscany where people keep meeting, who are just like me.
