Beware of the Magician Hat

Print this story

Beware of the magician hat
that conjures anything you want:
A comic book on a rack
that so eagerly you want to read;
Some vanilla ice cream on the main street
to freshen you from the summer’s heat;
Or, even the crown of the Queen of England,
which she never takes off her head.

Into the magician hat you put your hand,
with the image of desire in your head
And when you pull them back,
your desire is in your grasp.

Beware of the magician hat
that conjures anything you want,
For its magic may work for some time;
but sometimes it goes awry
like all magic always does.

And if you’re not in a forest
or in a zoo,
But you hear a terrible roaring,
loud and deafening,
Don’t ever count to three
to wait what happens next,
Or to find what comes out
of the magician hat.

Instead forget the magic,
forget the hat,
Forget the magician hat
that conjures anything you want--
Run away, without looking back,
and on a nearby tree, you shinny up!

This is very good! You do a very good job with storytelling.
