The Song of the Wren

Written by Zaunkoenig

Do you remember the last time we met?

Just last December, I was holding your hands.

Do you remember all those talks that we had

bout flowers, bout stories, bout thoughts and regrets?

Once there was spring, everything was so new

And summer came, all flowers in bloom,

Then there was fall with its colors so bright,

But now there is winter, so long are the nights.

I want to stretch out my arms to stop the time,

Want to break all clock towers before they chime.

But it’s a fight against a raging storm

Just hours and minutes and seconds then you’re gone.

I hear the birds calling out your name

And I can’t stop you from following their way.

But when I hear the song of the wren

I know that you are here with me again.

So beautiful! Also a bit sad. But I loved it!
