The Bird Book
One day Cornelia received a message through the guestbook on her website from a young biologist.
“If you ever wish to know which birds sing on your hill I’ll drop by to tell you”, she wrote.
Nora Stampe kept her promise. She dropped by with a jar containing two tiny seedlings of beech trees and made a list of all the birds living at Fraggina. This list Cornelia wrote into a notebook made in Volterra, and every artist who arrives portraits one of the birds Nora spotted or heard.
The book is so beautiful by now that it is one of Cornelia's greatest treasures. And of course she just started another at Mulinaccio. By now Nora works for the Volterra Project and runs Mulinaccio with her husband Constantin Krawczyk and Anne Zaghow, a brilliant wood cut artist.
